Karma Read’s legal experience encompasses a wide range of civil and criminal law, ranging from contract negotiations and bargaining to representing people who are facing criminal charges. Prior to joining DKM, Karma was a criminal defense attorney in both Oregon and Colorado and has tried several cases to verdict. In addition, before becoming a lawyer, Karma worked for a large Portland-based insurance carrier. Since joining DKM, Karma has applied her prior insurance and litigation experience to insurance coverage and civil litigation issues.

Karma received her J.D. from the University of Oregon School of Law in 2019, and her B.S. from the University of Oregon in 2015. In law school, Karma volunteered with the Oregon Innocence Project, an organization that works to free people who have been wrongfully convicted and improve the criminal justice system.

In her free time, Karma enjoys exploring Pacific Northwest forests with her two children and Husky mix, Yoko.
